English 3

In Preintermediate English, we practice a little bit of grammar, vocabulary and a lot of speaking and pronunciation, which is important because it’s not typical skills that you trained at school.

In a typical class we discuss about any topic, but always giving opinion or finding new and different ways to express a thing. The teacher explains ways to say or giving an opinion and then we discuss in pairs or in small groups.

In the last classes, we are discussing about gender and stereotypes in the society. I think that is very good that this discussion is given in that subject, because in the future you can argue with people of another country about that, and English subjects are commonly characterized by treating eclectic topics, thing that I don’t like.

I enjoy this subject because it’s a place where you can explain yourself and talk about your feelings, thoughts or points of views, in spite of the other subjects, in which you only repeat and repeat all the time. This subject also teaches you how to express yourself in other language, which is always positive.

Other important point is that because they are few students in the classroom, the class is more customed and also lets and makes you get involved to it. Also the few classmates make the place more cohesive and familiar.

At the end of the day, it’s a good experience in which you can met new classmates and know better the older ones at the same time that you are learning a new language.

Scielo (not heaven)

Scientific electronic library online is a quite good website to search a lot of information and papers from much respected organizations that works in the most various fields (universities, indexed journals). Also, it includes databases from very countries of Latin America and also Spain, Portugal and South Africa.

The international site of Scielo provides you direct links to each of the national version of the library, and direct links to specialised areas, like Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Humanities, etc. and also shows the news about the organization with the twitter tool.

I visit this website every time that I need to do a university work, and it’s like almost all the days of the week.  However, I enjoy visiting it because it’s a very good site in which you can easily find a lot of results searching a few keywords, introducing you to a topic of your interest and bringing you a good back-up. Also, in a free time, it’s interesting to look for new topics and works that are important to me and social sciences.

For these and many other reasons, I recommend Scielo, either for work and personal curiosity.
