Ska-P concert

My favorite concert was the Ska-P concert. It was at Movistar Arena, in Santiago, Chile. Ska-P is an Ska-Punk band established in Vallecas, Madrid in the 90's. They have powerful lyrics about the freedom and social troubles of the working class and the third world, all of it mixed with stunning trumpets, basses and other nice sounds and instruments that i like much.

In the event, i was so excited because it was the first ever concert in which i attend without my parents or family. I had Twelve years and i went with some school friends that like the band too. Because of that, i was very attentive to the atmosphere, and i see a lot of people, more of them adult people replenishing the Arena.

When the concert start i felt so excited because it was a very favourite group of mine since i was very young and i know all the songs, so i sang and danced all of them.

In summary, it was a wonderful experience, so much for being one of my first independent experiences as a child as for having seen one of my favorite bands.

United Kingdom

I would like to visit U.K., I don't love this entire country or culture, but i'm a British Football enthusiastic. British invented football around 200 years ago, so, in my opinion, they have the best leagues in the world.

So, obviously, the activities that I would like to do in this country is attend to the stadiums to watch football. There are several cities with a lot of footbal history, Like Liverpool, Manchester, London, and others. Manchester has a stadium called Old Trafford, better known as "Theatre of dreams". London have 4 bigs profesional stadiums in which the top tier teams usually play. They are Emirates Stadium, White Hart Lane, Stamford Brigde and the legendary Wembley Stadium, in where Marcelo Salas scored a historic goal for our natinoal team.

Wembley Stadium, London.

So there is some basic information about the parts of United Kingdom that i would like to visit inmediatly if i could go. I think that United Kingdom is a very well conected country, with big and fast underground lines. Some stadiums have their own underground station. For example, Emirates Stadium has the Arsenal Station.

Is important to see the way that football, and particulary english football, is conected with social troubles. in the next photo we can see how the English Football Association started a campaign against homophobia and for the respect of erveyone. The hashtag for this day was "Make sport everyone's game".

Arsenal Underground Station. The Rainbow is part of a campaign against homophobia.

Altough i like football the most, there are more interesting activities to do in United Kingdom, like visit museums, library, squares and, why not, pubs and bars. Is in this way that i imagine United Kingdom.

English 3

In Preintermediate English, we practice a little bit of grammar, vocabulary and a lot of speaking and pronunciation, which is important because it’s not typical skills that you trained at school.

In a typical class we discuss about any topic, but always giving opinion or finding new and different ways to express a thing. The teacher explains ways to say or giving an opinion and then we discuss in pairs or in small groups.

In the last classes, we are discussing about gender and stereotypes in the society. I think that is very good that this discussion is given in that subject, because in the future you can argue with people of another country about that, and English subjects are commonly characterized by treating eclectic topics, thing that I don’t like.

I enjoy this subject because it’s a place where you can explain yourself and talk about your feelings, thoughts or points of views, in spite of the other subjects, in which you only repeat and repeat all the time. This subject also teaches you how to express yourself in other language, which is always positive.

Other important point is that because they are few students in the classroom, the class is more customed and also lets and makes you get involved to it. Also the few classmates make the place more cohesive and familiar.

At the end of the day, it’s a good experience in which you can met new classmates and know better the older ones at the same time that you are learning a new language.

Scielo (not heaven)

Scientific electronic library online is a quite good website to search a lot of information and papers from much respected organizations that works in the most various fields (universities, indexed journals). Also, it includes databases from very countries of Latin America and also Spain, Portugal and South Africa.

The international site of Scielo provides you direct links to each of the national version of the library, and direct links to specialised areas, like Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Humanities, etc. and also shows the news about the organization with the twitter tool.

I visit this website every time that I need to do a university work, and it’s like almost all the days of the week.  However, I enjoy visiting it because it’s a very good site in which you can easily find a lot of results searching a few keywords, introducing you to a topic of your interest and bringing you a good back-up. Also, in a free time, it’s interesting to look for new topics and works that are important to me and social sciences.

For these and many other reasons, I recommend Scielo, either for work and personal curiosity.

Che

This photo was taken by me (it’s a selfie). It shows me with two of my very good friends, “Che” and “Cofla”. Cofla is my neighbor and Che lives in Mendoza, Argentina, but in our school days we were classmates, until 2014, when Che moved to Argentina.

This photo was taken in August 2015, when my friend Che just arrived from his old location, Buenos Aires. I really like it because it represents our meeting after a year of separation since he moved to Argentina, their original country. In that day, a lot of friends reunited to see Che after a long time of separation, so we celebrated a lot in a park of Ñuñoa, called Juan XXIII. We got some speakers so we have a very nice party.

Che is a very close friend to me, so when we meet is like if time had not passed
Curiously, he told me today that he is coming tomorrow in a very short trip of 2-3 days, so we can see each other once again after the moment of the photo.

The Lifesaver

Music is like one of the most important things of my life. I listen to music every time I can. It makes me feel completely.
I like many music genres like rock, cumbia and almost all of the Latin music, and the most of the artists that I listen are Chilean. But the music that I most like is RAP. Rap is a combination of Lexical skills and nice beats. Instead of what a lot of people think, rap really requires being very creative for telling a story. The rappers outstands because their high velocity and skills to combine words and make it senses, and the Dj’s job is sampling some old or new songs and create new rhythms. The sampling perfectly can be considerate like a rescue of the old culture and also demonstrates respect for the artist of the past.
Last Friday, I went to SFDK’s concert, a Spanish rap group. They are pioneers on Spanish-speaking rap. SFDK specially outstands by their live show, and it was demonstrated past Friday.
I download and save all of my music on my pc, my iPod and my cellphone to. I like the idea of save it and not just listen it, is like a treasure for me. I also bought and received some CD’s, I have my own collection, which of course includes some raps CD’s.
If I were a song, I would be “Jardín del desdén”, a very deep-feeling song which mixes rap, jazz and lexical skills. Cevladé, the author, is a language teacher that uses many references of writers like Rimbaud, Baudelaire and Poe troughs this entire career.
I only know to play the flute, and I also tried with the guitar, not much successfully. However, I can read music. I’m not quite good to sing, but I do it anyway because I enjoy it. I’m not just sing karaoke in the shower, I also listen music in the shower, either with my phone or my speakers.
Also, talking about rap, it was born in the Bronx, a very poor and hopeless neighborhood, where people can’t buy expensive instruments, so their only chance is just make noises with their mouth and hands and clap to make their rhythm. Music in general and Rap particularly, is very important to the society and culture, because without Hip-Hop, probably much people where now dead or selling drugs. Rap save a lot of lifes of people that found another way to fight their poverty, the talent to make rhymes, not only in the Bronx but all over the world.
